Est. 1847
Welcome to History
Look, we get it - most "historic" hotels are just old buildings with fancy names. But Grimthorn? She's the real deal. Originally built as a coastal defense fortress back in 1847, these walls have seen some stuff. We've spent years bringing her back to life without losing what makes her special.
Think massive stone walls (yeah, they're three feet thick in places), original turrets you can actually climb, and a medieval hall where we serve dinner that'd make your ancestors jealous. But we've also got the modern touches - heated stone floors, rainfall showers, and beds so comfortable you might forget you're sleeping in a fortress.
Our StoryWhat We Offer
We've packed this place with experiences you won't find anywhere else. Seriously, where else can you taste wine in a 175-year-old cellar?
Guest Stories
"We've stayed in a lot of 'historic' hotels, but this one's different. The stones are real, the history's real, and somehow they've made it all feel luxurious without losing the magic. That fortress tour at sunset? Worth the trip alone."
Margaret & Robert
Toronto, ON"Had our wedding here and it was perfect. The Great Hall, the battlements for photos, the whole vibe - our guests are still talking about it. And the staff? They made everything so easy. Can't recommend this place enough."
Jessica & Kyle
Vancouver, BC"Brought my team here for a retreat and wow. The meeting spaces are actually inspiring, the food was incredible, and after sessions we'd just wander around exploring. Plus the beds - I haven't slept that well at a hotel maybe ever."

Perfect Location
We're about ten minutes from downtown Victoria - close enough that you can easily hit the Inner Harbour, Butchart Gardens, or grab fish and chips at Fisherman's Wharf. But far enough out that you get actual peace and quiet at night.
The waterfront location means most rooms have ocean views, and yeah, you might see seals or eagles from your window. It happens more than you'd think.
